School District of Wild Rose
District Communication - October 12, 2020
Good Evening School District of Wild Rose. We wanted to provide an update for all of you and also give us an opportunity to remind you of a few things.
Currently, the District has 3 positive active cases. From the beginning of the school year, we have had 5 positive cases - 2 are recovered. We have four classrooms in the virtual/remote environment with two of them scheduled to return on Thursday. The other two classes are scheduled to return on October 22.
Mr. Wilbert, MS. Bronk, Mrs. Eldredge, Mrs. Wilson, Mrs. Kindschuh, and Mr. Hayes met this morning to discuss our current PURPLE learning phase. At this time we decided to continue in the PURPLE instructional model for all grades (4K-12). This was a very healthy conversation discussing many possible outcomes. We do not believe that COVID-19 is spreading in our schools. We believe that COVID-19 is spreading among our communities and is being brought into the school. It is important that all students, staff, and families practice the necessary safety measures to increase our stay in the face-to-face instructional phase, which leads us to the following reminders:
Practice physical and social distancing
Avoid close contact with people who are sick
Put 6 feet of distance between yourself and people who do not live in your household
Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds
Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands
Cover your coughs and sneezes and then immediately wash your hands
Clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces regularly and daily
Monitor your health daily
Be alert for symptoms
Watch for fever, cough, shortness of breath
Check your temperature
Work through the Home Health Checklist on a daily routine
If you are traveling or engaged in any activities that you believe put you at a higher risk of transmission please contact the school nurse about a return to school plan.
This also serves as a reminder to arrange for instructional and child care plans if the District needs to pivot into the GOLD or PINK learning phases. Please find the graphic below that summarizes the Three Teaching & Learning Models.
We have a District Re-Opening Committee meeting scheduled for this week to touch base with our entire re-opening team. These conversations and discussions will continue at the meeting. This team has been instrumental in developing our School Re-Opening plan and we are meeting this week to continue our work together.
Lastly, we know this is a challenging time for all of us. We know our students, staff, and families are doing an incredible job, and we know that having the kids in the building is what is best for kids. It is important that we ALL work together to continue to provide the In-Person learning model. These efforts on all of our parts requires continued cooperation between home and school. When our staff is reaching out and working through the questions please be respectful in answering them as they are only working through the Return to School protocol and trying to arrange materials and support if the student(s) will not be in school for a period of time. We understand there may be times when we are feeling down or an increased sense of stress, please remember that we are here to support you and work with all of you to provide the best possible environment for our students, families, and staff.
